Rigidity of secondary invariants via equivariant coarse geometry

We describe how equivariant coarse geometry is employed in the study of rigidity properties of secondary invariants of Dirac operators for a Galois covering. We shall also discuss generalizations of these techniques to etale groupoids which produce new higher secondary invariants.
