Nikolai Tarkhanov, who passed away on July 31^st, was an enthusiastic teacher, a generous and learned man, behind whose modesty there was an outstanding mathematician.

This online meeting is a small tribute to our dear colleague and an occasion for his friends, colleagues and students to honour him with a scientific talk or simply a few words to pay their respect.
