Nina Gantert (TU München): Random walks on percolation clusters and dynamical percolation.
Abstract: We explain some models and questions about random walks in (dynamical) random environments. In particular, we consider random walks on percolation clusters and random walks among random conductances. We also present recent results on biased random walks on dynamical percolation.
No prerequisites will be assumed.
Chiranjib Mukherjee (Uni Münster): Percolation and the geometry of groups and graphs.
Abstract: In this talk, we will explore the connections between percolation theory and the geometry of groups acting on spaces -- particularly through their Cayley graphs -- as well as more general graphs without any symmetry. In the case of Cayley graphs, our main objective is to gain insight into the Haagerup property and Kazhdan's property (T) using probabilistic approaches. Specifically, we will examine how these properties can be studied—and even characterized—via the connectivity behavior of invariant percolation processes. For the second part, focusing on general graphs, we will see how these probabilistic information can provide valuable information about their large scale properties. Concretely, we will characterize L^p-compression exponents of general graphs as well as their coarse embeddability into Hilbert spaces via percolation theory..
