The bar-cobar construction a pair of adjoint functors between the categories of differential graded associative algebras and codifferential cograded coalgebras. In this pedagogical introduction, I will spent some time discussing each of these terms. We will see that these two categories are related by twisting morphisms, which obey a Maurer-Cartan equation.
