Analytic torsion for manifolds with boundary

The well-known  independence on the metric of the analytic torsion on a boundaryless manifolds was discussed in the case of a manifold with boundary by various mathematicians among whom Cheeger, Müller and Vishik.
Following these authors we shall present the main ingredients such as spectral properties of manifolds with boundary, the heat-kernel asymptotics on manifolds with boundary and the main steps of the proof of the independence on the metric on the interior of the manifold.
