| 17:00 | Hanne Hardening | Geodesic surface finite elements We study the discretization of maps from a smooth embedded hypersurface into a smooth Riemannian manifold. The discretization is given by a finite-dimensional approximation of the set of functions, such that the target manifold is exactly resolved, while the discretization of the domain follows the techniques for surface finite elements. In particular, we develop W^{1,2}- and L^2- a priori error estimates for elliptic second order energy minimization problems. |
