The Positive Mass Conjecture for asymptotically flat Riemannian manifolds is a famous problem in geometric analysis which has been open for a long time and seems to have been solved in recent work by Schoen and Yau.
In this talk we explain a variant of this problem, where we consider closed Riemannian manifolds instead of asymptotically flat ones. We give a variational formulation of the problem and discuss possible applications.
This is joint work with Emmanuel Humbert.
