Dear all,
we are happy to announce that for our upcoming SIAM/GAMM student chapter seminar on the 25th of June we will have a talk from Toky Andriamanalina!
Our seminar is open to all early career researchers and students.
Abstract:
In this talk, I will present the 'untangling number', a new measure of entanglement complexity in crystalline materials. The untangling number is reminiscent of the 'unknotting number' in knot theory, but it is specifically designed for crystalline (triply periodic) structures such as 3D weavings or triply periodic networks. The talk will be very basic, so much so that no prior knowledge, either in mathematics or in materials science, is required.
