Sylvie Paycha, Professor

Universität Potsdam - Institut für Mathematik

Colloquia, conferences and Summer schools

I have been coordinating the mathematics institute colloquium since 2012 with the help of various members of the institute.

The Colloquium, which takes place once a month on Wednesday afternoon, comprises of two one hour talks with a tea break in between. The aim is to offer to a mixed audience - whose fields of research can range from statistics to algebraic topology - a pedagogical introduction to a topic leading to the presentation of new results at the end of the talk.

In February 2023 together with Georges Habib (Lebanese University, Beirut) we launched a colloquium
"Mathematics in Lebanon and beyond"

This colloquium serves as a meeting place for scientific exchange, bringing together mathematicians from the Lebanese diaspora, friends of Lebanon from around the world, and researchers based in Lebanon.

I have been organising a series of meetings initiated by Professor Schulze devoted to
Micro-local, singular and global analysis and their interactions with geometry and mathematical physics,
that take place at the University of Potsdam on a yearly basis:

Since 1999, I have been co-organising Summer Schools in Colombia on
"Geometric, Algebraic and Topological Methods for Quantum Field Theory"
most of which in Villa de Leyva, Colombia and the latest in 2023:
