Research

My research concerns geometric and algebraic structures inspired by modern mathematical physics. The emphasis is on the interface between differential geometry, quantum field theory and integrable systems. This arena has proven to be a rich source of mathematical results in recent years, arising from particularly fruitful dialogue between mathematicians and physicists. My current research interests are on:

  • partial differential equations of physics, in particular Yang-Mills equations and harmonic maps
  • integrable systems and solitons
  • special geometric structures; e.g. hyperkähler and quaternionic Kähler geometries
  • supersymmetry and representation theory of Lie superalgebras
  • ternary algebras
